Wiltshire CCC end run of defeats in Unicorns County Championship
Wiltshire ended their run of defeats on Sunday/Monday/Tuesday when they drew with Cornwall at St Austell in the Western Division of the Unicorns County Championship.
Cornwall won the toss and were all out for 193 in 48 overs having recovered from 125 for 9 wickets thanks to a last wicket stand of 68 between James Turpin (75) and Tom Dinnis (15 not out). For Wiltshire Luke Evans took 4 for 64, Tahir Afridi 2 for 56 and Joe King 2 for 24. In reply Wiltshire scored 270 in their first innings. Steve Bullen scored 47, Will Wade 31, Ed Young 47,Brad Dawson 59 and Tom Morton 31. Matthew Rowe took 5 for 93.
Cornwall were bowled out in their 2nd innings for 363. Sam Wood scored 102 and Tommy Sturgess 54. For Wiltshire Tahir Afridi took 4 for 75, Luke Evans 2 for 73 and Joe King 2 for 106. This meant Wilts needed to score 287 to win in 75 overs. After a steady opening partnership of 29, they then lost 3 wickets to slump to 33 for 3 in one over from Andrew Libby. Steve Bullen (82) and Brad Dawson (55) put on 90 for the 5th wicket to give Wiltshire hope. But with wickets falling they ended up on 273 for 9 wickets as Tahir Afridi (32 not out and Ryan Murray 18 not out) played out the last 4 overs to earn the draw.
