Wiltshire Cricket launches new Talent Pathway Framework and invites parents to a Pathway Introduction Evening
Launch of Talent Pathway Framework
Over the past twelve months Wiltshire Cricket has been developing its new Talent Pathway Framework, a resource that guides players, parents and coaches through the different aspect of pathway cricket in Wiltshire.
Specifically, the framework includes:
- The Player Pathway from Club through to Wiltshire CCC 1st XI
- Age Group Timeline - what are the key focuses of each stage of the pathway
- What will each year in the Wiltshire Cricket Talent Pathway look like?
- Batting/Bowling/Fielding Frameworks - these are supported by the Skills Framework videos available on this website
- The personal attributes that will benefit players in the Wiltshire Cricket Talent Pathway
- Talent ID and Player Selection
- Current County cricketers who started their journeys in the Wiltshire Cricket Talent Pathway
Pathway Introduction & Working With Parents Workshop
To support the launch of the Talent Pathway Framework, we are also inviting all parents within the boys pathway to a "Pathway Introduction & Working With Parents Workshop". (*We are working with ECB regarding the development of a similar girls pathway document to align to the ECB and Western Storm's own frameworks)
This session is designed to give parents a further understanding of the Wiltshire CCC pathway, covering areas such as talent identification, skills frameworks, scheduling and more. All areas which are covered within our recently launched Talent Pathway Framework Document.
In addition to this, there will be a Working with Parents workshop delivered by Steve Williams from On-Form Consulting. Steve has a wealth of experience within cricket; formerly of the ECB, he now supports numerous counties in the South West in sports psychology, lifestyle management, etc.
The "Working with Parents Workshop" will be interactive and cover the below elements in the spirit of sharing some of the best ideas, knowledge, and approaches to support our young players whilst understanding the challenges we as parents face. It won't be about telling parents how to parent, as we each know our own children best.
- Recognising and Supporting Challenges
- Developing a Growth Mindset
- Pathway Opportunities
- Tools to Help Players Build Confidence
- Tools for Dealing with Setbacks
- Tools for Developing GRIT & Resilience
- “Process not Outcome.”
- Performing Under Pressure
- Worst and Best Outdoor Transitions”
