Wiltshire Women's 1st XI return to action with a win!
Following completion of the ECB T20 competition earlier this summer, the Wiltshire Women returned to action in the first of a series of friendly fixtures on Sunday. It was a successful return as Dorset were defeated by 59 runs.
Batting first in a 40 over encounter, Wiltshire were led by an innings of 71 from debutant Maxine Blythin. Blythin was ably supported by innings of 24 from Pippa Brown, 20 from Emily Bogg and 30 not out from a second debutant; Sanjana Kang-Mullen.
In the end Wiltshire finished on 181 all out with Amelie Whitaker taking 3-14 for Dorset.
In their defence, Wiltshire performed well and did not enable Dorset to ever get going in pursuit of their target. Stand out figures went to Kang-Mullen with 2-15 and Brown with 2-19. There was also a wicket apiece for Holly Morgan and Emily Smith. In the end Dorset were dismissed for 122 with Wiltshire recording 4 run outs!
An excellent victory by 59 runs.
Our thanks go to Melksham CC who were hosting their first ever Wiltshire Women's 1st XI game
