Tim Hancock appointed as Wiltshire CCC 1st XI Head Coach
Wiltshire Cricket is delighted to announce the appointment of Tim Hancock as Wiltshire CCC Men’s 1st XI Head Coach for the 2023 season.
The appointment represents an exciting progression for Wiltshire Cricket as the county strives to continually develop its 1st XI environment as well as strengthen the link to the player pathway. On that note, Tim will work closely with Wiltshire’s Head of Pathway, Tom Morton, to ensure alignment of the Wiltshire 1st XI to the wider Talent Pathway Framework. Equally, Tim’s appointment will allow Tom to balance his time during the busy months of the summer between the 1st XI and the Pathway teams.
Speaking of Tim’s appointment, Morton said; “Tim’s appointment to the role of Wiltshire 1st XI Head Coach is a hugely exciting one for the county. Through a combination of his extensive playing and coaching careers, he will bring a new dimension to the team. Also, his work with Wiltshire in recent years on our Emerging Player Programme means he knows the county well and we know that he will share our passion for developing young cricketers and integrating them where possible in to the 1st team environment”
Tim’s playing career saw him represent Gloucestershire between 1991 and 2005. Either side of this he also played Minor Counties Cricket for Oxfordshire and Shropshire. Following his retirement, Tim has had a distinguished coaching career; most recently being appointed as Director of Cricket at Clifton College. In his role with Wiltshire, Tim will support delivery of winter sessions for 1st XI and EPP players, and will then be present on match days for Wiltshire through the 2023 season. Speaking of the Wiltshire role, Tim said “I am very much looking forward to joining up with Wiltshire’s talented group of players and coaches. When Tom asked me to get involved with Wiltshire I didn’t really need to think about it for too long. It’s an honour for me to be asked and I am very much looking forward to it “
For 2023, Wiltshire will be led once again by captain, Ed Young, with the NCCA season beginning on 16th April with the T20 competition, followed by the NCCA Trophy in late May and then the NCCA Championship in the second part of the season.
