Wiltshire CCC lose to Dorset but qualify for NCCA 50 over Quarter-Finals

With both teams already qualified it was a home quarter-final being played for when Dorset met Wiltshire at Dorchester CC. A six wicket defeat means Wiltshire will be away to Hertfordshire when the knockout stage commences on Sunday 2nd July.

After winning the toss, Wiltshire chose to bat and it was Tom Cullen (35) and Jack Mynott (24) who with a 47 run second wicket partnership laid a steady foundation. However, regular wickets meant that the Wiltshire innings was never able to accelerate. In the end, eight of Wiltshire's batter reached double figures but nobody passed 35. Archie Fairfax-Ross' 33 from 34 balls gave the innings the most impetus and helped get the total to 195-9 from 50 overs. For Dorset, Ross Whiteley took 3-17 and David Scott 2-37.

In reply, Dorset got off to a fast start with opener Joseph Eckland hitting 51 from 43 balls. Joe King did his best to bowl Wiltshire in to the game, taking 3-43 from his 10 overs, but Sam Young's 74 not out meant that Dorset were never in trouble; reaching their target for the loss of four wickets inside 33 overs.

Dorset now go on to play Berkshire in their quarter-final whereas Wiltshire will travel to Hertford CC to play Hertfordshire this coming Sunday, 30th July.
