Wiltshire CCC beat Hertfordshire to reach semi-finals of NCCA 50 Over Trophy!
Wiltshire produced a superb performance to beat Hertfordshire by 4 wickets to reach the semi final of the Trophy where they will play Berkshire at South Wilts C C on Sunday July 16th.
Hertfordshire won the toss and chose to bat, a decision with which Wilts were happy. They made a good steady start with openers Hassan Azad (47) and Dominic Chatfield (79) putting on 105 for the first wicket in 20 overs. Wiltshire produced a disciplined bowling performance to keep the batters in check with no other batter reaching 30 until Andrew Neal (42 off 20 balls) produced fireworks at the end of the innings taking the score to 282 for 8 off their 50 overs. Pick of the Wiltshire bowlers was Ed Young (3-37 off his 10 overs) with good support from Arthur Godsal 2-51 and one wicket each for Josh Croom and Harry Broderick together with one run out.
Wiltshire had the worst possible start losing Jake Goodwin to the first ball of the innings. Tom Cullen (Wadworth Man of the Match), (80) and Jack Mynott (47) put on 89 for the 2nd wicket and when Jack was out Ed Young (55 off 53 balls) joined Tom Cullen and they put on 88. Tom Cullen fell with the score at 203 but Ben Draper (22), Josh Kelly (14) and Harry Broderick (42 not out off 28 balls) were able to see Wiltshire home with 5 balls to spare as Josh Croom 9 off 4 balls finished the job.
