Match Preview: Wiltshire, Devon & Hampshire Women set for triple T20 Day at Potterne CC on Sunday 16th June.

Wiltshire Women play hosts to Devon and Hampshire Women on Sunday 16th June at Potterne CC, in the first fixtures of the T20 schedule, following a wash-out in May.

The T20 competition got off to a wet start in May, with only 3 games being completed out of the originally scheduled 9 in ECB’s Group 4 of the Women’s T20 Competition. Wiltshire & Devon therefore head into this weekend with fresh-legs, whilst Hampshire were successful in completing their previous fixtures, attaining a 4-wicket victory over Oxfordshire, but falling to defeat against Somerset by 8 wickets, in a rain affected fixture. Hampshire currently sit at the top of the group, having received additional bonus points for taking 12 wickets across their 2 games so far.

The triple-T20 fixtures this weekend are also Wiltshire’s first home appearance of 2024, having had 2 out of match days cancelled due to poor weather. Wiltshire will be hoping to get into full flow on Sunday, as they open the T20 day with their fixture against Devon, before concluding the day against Hampshire.

16.30pm – Wiltshire vs Hampshire

T20 days always bring high levels of excitement and enthusiasm from players and supporters, particularly with Wiltshire choosing to field 2 hard-hitting and impactful debutants, in Lauren Adams & Elise Haines. The two young talents join the Wiltshire team to replace the injured, Holly Presswell and Lois Wright, who plans to rejoin the team for the remainder of the season.

Lauren & Elise bring with them a sense of energy, fearlessness and a hard-hitting mentality, which they hope to put to good use, by clearing the small ropes of Potterne CC this weekend – a perfect venue for exhilarating T20 Cricket!

I'm excited to see Elise & Lauren take to the field on Sunday in our upcoming T20 fixtures. Both cricketers are showing exciting potential and this T20 days gives them a great opportunity to showcase their skills and ultimately have a really positive impact on the outcomes of the games. Lauren certainly doesn't hang around with the bat, and will be looking to add fire-power to the middle-order, whilst Elise can be game-changing with the bat, the ball or in the field. It wouldn't surprise me if Lauren or Elise took the catch of the season on Sunday - one that hopefully is game-changing and leads to a Wiltshire win! - Sam Dent, Wiltshire Women's Head Coach.

Hampshire will be looking to extend their lead at the top of the table, whilst Devon (also with 2 previously cancelled games) will be looking to trump the ‘shires’ in both fixtures. Both visiting teams bring with them a wealth of experience and talent, including Devon’s strike-bowler, Katie Donovan and big-hitting Amelie Munday, who’s recently returned to cricket following an early-season injury. Hampshire are yet to announce their squads on social media, but will be looking to Finty Trussler and Gemma Lane, who currently lead Hampshire’s run-scoring and wicket-taking leaderboards respectively.

The triple-T20 day takes place on Sunday 16th June at Potterne CC, with fixtures beginning at 10.30am, 13.30pm and 16.30pm. Wiltshire Women take to the field during the first and third of the 3 fixtures, and would welcome local support at the fixture. Attendance on the day is free, with options for supporters to meet & greet some of the players throughout the day.
