Wiltshire CCC fall to defeat against Cheshire to end NCCA Trophy hopes

NCCA KO Trophy Group 4:
Cheshire 379-7 (50 overs)
Wiltshire 250 (44.3 ovrs)

Make no mistake Wiltshire took a hammering at the hands of a talented and belligerent Cheshire batting line-up who produced their highest ever one day score with a daunting 379 for 7 (Archie Fairfax Ross 3 for 80) In reply Wiltshire soon found themselves in deep trouble at 99 for 8. In sport for there to be a winner there has to be a team/individual that suffers defeat.  However, never give up and batters 9,10 & 11 certainly didn’t.  They restored some pride to the team and brought smiles back onto faces.

Wadworth Man of the Match Will Naish was 9 not out when he was joined by relative newcomer Adam Sullivan at number 10.  These two pushed the score on to a more respectable 154 for 9 until Adam was dismissed.  Enter Joe King at number 11 to join Will who has just registered 50.  These two then advanced the score to a remarkable 250 all out with a partnership of 96 until Joe was dismissed leaving Will Naish stranded on 123 not out.  Generous applause had echoed around the ground from a large gathering of Cheshire fans as well as the Wiltshire faithful as Will chalked up his century and again as he left the field with a smile on his face and his head held high despite the defeat.  That was a day that will linger long in the memory!
