In a match severely affected by rain which meant most of one whole day was lost to the rain., Wiltshire and Herefordshire played out a draw.
Wiltshire won the toss and chose to bat and were all out for 331 in the 87th over. They started well with an opening stand of 82 between James Degg (38) before he was run out and Wadworth player of the match Dylan Church who scored an excellent 116.
Captain Ed Young (75) joined Church after Harry Broderick was out and they put on 131 for the third wicket which formed the basis of the Wiltshire total. There were good contributions from Jake Goodwin (25), Toby Kershaw (23) and Will Naish (26).
Herefordshire started their innings and at close of play were 46 without loss. The second day had only 54 overs as Hereford took their score to 246 for 6. The third day remarkably started on time due to the magnificent work of the club’s ground staff after heavy overnight rain and at the end of their 90 overs Herefordshire were 324-9. Henry Cullen scored an excellent 101 with Ben Chapman-Lilley 40, Nick Hammond 55 and Natt Bowley 41 not out. The Wiltshire spinners did the bulk of the bowling with Joe King taking 4-95 and Ben Higton on debut 3-78.
Wiltshire had reached 28 without loss by lunch when rain arrived and the match was abandoned as a draw.
