Wiltshire to play Glamorgan in Men’s and Women’s T20 Double Header
Following the hugely successful NCCA / ECB Showcase games of recent years, Wiltshire Cricket is delighted to release details of our 2025 plans.
Following the successful hosting of a Men’s 1st XI 50 over fixture between Glamorgan and Wiltshire in 2024, Swindon Cricket Club will again play host to a slightly different showcase day in 2025. On Friday 30th May, both of Wiltshire’s Women’s and Men’s 1st XI teams will compete in T20 fixtures against the Glamorgan Women and Men respectively.
The introduction of a fixture between the two Women’s teams represents the continuity of a thriving partnership between the two counties that was announced in 2024. 2025 will see the launch of the new Women’s Domestic structure with Wiltshire’s Women competing in Division 1 of the new Tier 3 competition structure. However, a hugely important feature of the new structure has been the alignment of Wiltshire with Glamorgan’s Tier 1 Academy and Pathway structure; a structure that has seen the creation of the first ever Girls EPP in Wiltshire, co-delivered in Wiltshire by coaches from the two counties, as well as the selection of several Wiltshire players for the full Glamorgan Academy.
With regards the Men’s fixture, the shift to a T20 fixture will tie in nicely with the start of Glamorgan’s T20 Blast campaign and will ensure the continued presence of the showcase fixtures in the Men’s calendar. The NCCA Showcase games are an initiative that started in 2021. The games represent a fantastic opportunity for the National Counties to test themselves against the best players in the country. They are also an opportunity to showcase the huge pool of talent within the National Counties, as well as shine a light on the huge amounts of effort that are put in to recreational cricket across the UK.
Initial details for 2025’s fixtures are as follows:
- Glamorgan Women v Wiltshire Women – Friday 30th May, 1pm start
- Glamorgan Men v Wiltshire Men – Friday 30th May, 5pm start
Our thanks to Swindon CC for one again hosting these fixtures, and a huge thank you for the cooperation of Glamorgan CCC in the planning of both matches.
