Wiltshire County Women Announce 2025 Squad Ahead of Season Opener
Wiltshire Cricket is proud to unveil the County Women's squad for the 2025 season — a dynamic group of 25 players, blending experienced county cricketers with the next generation of talent from the EPP and Academy pathways.
The announcement follows a successful media evening held last week, where players received a new kit package sponsored by Eden Renewables and the Southern Academy of Sport. The squad were joined by photographer Victoria Grimshaw who captured squad and individual photos ahead of what promises to be a landmark season.
Speaking ahead of the announcement, Head Coach Sam Dent highlighted the balance within this year’s squad:
“We have a balanced squad this year that includes a number of experienced players who have represented Wiltshire over the years, but also some very exciting new talent who join the team in 2025. Many of our young Emerging Players, including Carys Shah and Sophie Gaiger, who featured in the 2024 squad too - will be ones to watch. Carys & Sophie, amongst 6 other young talents are part of the Glamorgan-Wiltshire EPP pathway – ”
The squad also features several new players from across Wiltshire and five new additions from Glamorgan, Jersey, and the Netherlands, including internationally capped players Sanya Khurana (Netherlands) and Grace Wetherall (Jersey), adding valuable experience and variety to the group.
With a total of 8 EPP (Emerging Player Programme) players and 5 Glamorgan Academy cricketers, the extended squad reflects the evolving nature of the women’s domestic structure. Academy players, in particular, will also represent Glamorgan in Tier 2 competitions, making squad depth and rotation a key component of Wiltshire’s strategy.
“A larger squad gives our young players the chance to learn from senior figures and experience semi-professional cricket for the first time,” Dent explained. “It also creates healthy competition for places as we raise standards across the board.”
The team also enters the 2025 campaign under new leadership, with Emily Smith named as captain. A respected voice within the squad, Smith led the Wiltshire U18s to the National Finals in 2024 – a historic first for the county.
“Emily knows the players inside out, is respected by everyone, and has a brilliant cricketing brain. She’s already played a significant leadership role with our younger age groups and is the right person to take this group forward.”

Former captain Isla Thomson remains a key part of the setup and will represent both Wiltshire and Glamorgan this year as she continues her push toward a professional contract when Glamorgan becomes a Tier 1 side in 2027.
Looking ahead to the season, Coach Dent shared his hopes for the squad:
“Our ambition is to provide high-quality cricket experiences on and off the field – not just for our players, but for the wider community in Wiltshire. We want to inspire people of all ages to pick up a bat and ball and be proud of their county side. This team represents Wiltshire, and we want to do that with ambition, respect, and professionalism.”
Wiltshire will kick off their season on Sunday 20th April at Warminster against Cheshire, as they look to make an early statement in what is set to be their most exciting season yet. The full Wiltshire squad is announced below, with several new faces breaking into the Wiltshire team for the 2025 season, as Wiltshire look to make their mark on the MetroBank One Day Cup and Vitality Blast T20 competitions.
